What We Do

As the only cross-party think tank in Scotland we are the place to influence public policy. Fundraising through our activities and projects rather than receiving funding from political organisations allows us to keep our independence and integrity.

The Centre is engaged in developing public policy in a number of ways. We explore different aspects of policy, comment on these and suggest options for change and development. We do so through research, publications and discussion meetings of various kinds.

We create, encourage the development of, support and work with organisations with which we have shared views, sympathies and objectives. We promote discussion of options for change and development in various settings, including open events, supporters meetings, and ‘dialogue dinners’.

We use our social media channels to encourage such discussions, and we alert supporters to all these activities through regular electronic newsletters.

For more about our activities, please read the sections below.

Political Engagement

Parliamentary monitoring, superb media relations, connecting with the right people and having an understanding of relevant policy agendas is all in a day’s work for the CSPP. Being part of the political scene enables us to support your objectives.

The Centre regularly attends party conferences and liaises with the Scottish Parliament and Scottish Government via Cross Party Groups, committees and consultations to ensure we are at the forefront of Scottish politics. Dialogue Dinners

'Having partnered with the CSPP on several high profile political policy events they never fail to provide an extremely professional service delivering stakeholder events of a very high calibre. Their ability to attract senior key figures from both a political and public sector spectrum to their events, facilitates meaningful engagement with some of Scotland's key individuals and organisations.' (Novartis)

The Centre began chairing and hosting influencers' dinners as part of our Fringe sessions at party conferences. However due to popular demand we now host these dinners all year round, allowing CSPP members to get to the very heart of the policy debate with key speakers from the public, private and third sector. Research

Utilising the expertise and experience of our team, board and partners, the CSPP undertakes research on key policy areas at the forefront of the political agenda.

This research feeds into reports, parliamentary submissions and evidence-based interventions into public debate in order to promote positive change to the benefit of all of us who live in Scotland. Read more →

Conversation Events

The CSPP regularly organises “In Conversation With” events with leading figures from Scottish public life.

These events offer our members and the general public the opportunity to come together to discuss the pressing issues of the day with invited politicians, commentators, writers, campaigners, cultural figures and others in order to promote greater understanding and shape the wider debate.
