Energy & Environment  

 

The Economy, Energy and Tourism committee continued its ‘Inquiry into Scotland’s Energy Future’ with a roundtable discussion on the political and institutional landscape. This session is aimed at focusing the Committee on questions relating to ‘the areas of policy and development which are both reserved and devolved, the corporate versus Government context, regulation, the national grid and local and community initiatives.’

Europe 

 

The European and External Relations Committee recently agreed its new approach to the scrutiny of EU issues.

 

Last week the Committee continued its inquiry into the implications of the EU Budget Review for Scotland taking evidence from Professor Iain Begg from the LSE.

PSR 

 

The Finance Committee continued its inquiry into the funding of capital investment projects as it considered a draft report.

Renewing Democracy  

 

The Health and Sport Committee recently took evidence on the Health Boards (Membership and Elections) (Scotland) Bill at stage one.

City Regions 

 

The Transport, Infrastructure & Climate Change Committee continued its inquiry into the potential benefits of high speed rail services by taking evidence from various public sector bodies. The Committee intends to publish the results of the inquiry in early 2009.

 

The Committee also took evidence on the Scottish Government’s response to the Climate Change Bill Consultation.
