Budget 2012

Scottish Government passes first budget as a majority administration. john-swinneyweb

Finance Secretary John Swinney successfully guided the draft budget bill through stage 3 of the legislative process yesterday, a feat made all the more easier given the size of the SNP's majority.

Although they did not require the votes from any other party, the Government were keen to receive wide backing for their budget. In the end, only the Lib Dems voted with the Government which resulted in 70 votes of support and 52 against.
