Job Opportunity: Membership and Communications Officer with Centre for Scottish Public Policy



The Centre for Scottish Public Policy is looking for a communications and membership officer. This is a versatile role which offers significant opportunities for professional development.

Location: Home-based working
£8.45 per hour
Part time (2 days per week) for 3 months, potential for extension
Immediate start

Requirements

The candidate will be driven, flexible, able to work independently and will have strong time management skills. Previous experience in either event organisation, digital communications, policy research or administration is essential. An interest in public affairs and public policy is necessary. The holding of an undergraduate degree in any discipline is a minimum educational qualification for this role.

The successful candidate will have experience in at least one of the below areas, and will be expected and given opportunities to learn new skills and perform the tasks listed below. The role will be split between communications, event planning, and membership tasks.

Key responsibilities include:
Communications
• Updating social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn)
• Management of social media content via Hootsuite or similar
• Updating websites including latest news and events
• Preparing and sending e-newsletters (Nation-Builder)
• Engaging in direct messaging and relationship marketing
• Acting as organisational point of contact, handling queries
• Engaging in strategic dialogue with CSPP partners
• Engaging in dialogue with CSPP members
• Preparation of press releases & public-facing communications
 
Event Management
• Drawing together event programme and concept
• Contacting venues and speakers
• Creating online ticket booking pages (Eventbrite)
• Electronic, media and relationship marketing (see “Communications”)
• Maintaining delegate lists of those attending events
• Preparation of speaker and sponsor information briefs
• Liaising with venue and technical staff; collation of speaker presentations
• Acting as speaker-runner and usher during events
• Creation of post-event Storify-reports and speaker/delegate contact
 
Admin
• Preparation of meeting agenda and arrangements
• Minute-taking during meetings
• Communicate and undertake post-meeting actions
• Issuing member invoices and renewal letters
Additional
• Potential for policy research activity as required
• Preparation of parliamentary or policy briefings
