SNP Conference: CSPP Fringe Programme
Friday 16th October, AECC, Aberdeen
As part of our cross-party political engagement activities, the CSPP will be at the SNP's 2015 National Conference, which is being held in Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) from 15th to 17th October. Our programme of activities is as follows.
Fringe Meeting with the BBC
At 5pm on Friday 16th October in the Fleming Auditorium we will be hosting a discussion with the BBC on the role of the public broadcaster in Scotland - all conference delegates are welcome to attend. Refreshments provided.
Fiona Hyslop MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Europe and External Affairs
Ewan Angus, Commissioning Editor, Television, BBC Scotland
Professor Richard Kerley, Chair, Centre for Scottish Public Policy
Alasdair Smith, Creative Skillset
Join us to debate the future role of the BBC within Scotland and the UK, particularly in light of the forthcoming Charter Review. Do the BBC’s plans for the nations meet needs? How can the BBC contribute to the creative industries in Scotland? And what should be the role of the BBC in longer term constitutional arrangements? All of these questions are set in the context of rapidly changing technologies and distribution channels for broadcast media. Join us to consider where now for the BBC in Scotland.
During the conference we will be holding two ministerial dialogue meetings to discuss key themes on the CSPP's policy agenda. Held on Friday 16th October, these are:
- Dialogue dinner on health and wellbeing related matters.
- Dialogue meeting on IT and Digital in Scotland; current developments and plans for the future.
If you are interested in attending one of these sessions, please contact Jaqueline Cassidy for more information and to reserve a place.
